James C. Gurley
As Founder, Owner and President of Concept Masonry, James strives to provide each customer with work that is of the highest quality. James has been in the construction industry and brings over 28 years of experience. James is an Engineering graduate of NCSU and a North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association Certified Masonry Executive.
James C. Gurley, Jr.
Co-Founder and Vice-President of Concept Masonry, James Junior, or Jimmy as most of us call him, handles project bidding/estimating and Project Management. Jimmy brings over 18 years of masonry experience to the table. He possesses an unmatched ability with numbers and has developed estimating and bidding software for our private use in this industry. Jimmy earned his BA from UNC-Chapel Hill in Industrial Relations and is also a North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association Certified Masonry Executive.
Michael T. Gurley
As Vice-President and with over 12 years of construction experience, Michael handles project bidding/estimating and Project Management. He too, is a North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association Certified Masonry Executive as well. While Michael possesses a unique skill set for project safety, he is our designated Safety Director. Michael holds numerous OSHA certifications including instructor level training, and 500 and 501 certifications. Michael attended NCSU and ECU and possesses a degree in Fire Protection Technology. With over 8 years experience in Industrial and Construction safety, Michael is invaluable to the success of Concept Masonry, Inc.
Shelley Esposito
Shelley serves as the Office Manager for Concept Masonry. In this capacity, she oversees Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, and other essential daily functions of the office. Her role includes Payroll Administrator, Benefits Administrator and Human Resources Officer. Shelley brings 12 years of Office Administration and Management experience and has earned an AAS degree in Accounting. Shelley serves as assistant to James, Jimmy, and Michael with project billing, contract review, and all necessary and required paperwork for each project. She helps maintain order and functionality between the home office and the Superintendents in the field. Shelley is also an active member of the Raleigh Chapter of NAWIC - National Association of Women in Construction and a Notary public for the state of North Carolina.
Rudy Vandervelde
Rudy began his masonry career in 1976 as an apprentice in Chicago's suburbs doing residential masonry. After several years in Florida doing commercial masonry such as high rise buildings and shopping malls, Rudy moved to NC where he became a proud member of the Concept Masonry family in 1995. He is now a North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association Certified Masonry Professional and brings over 32 years of construction experience. As our Lead Superintendent, Rudy serves our Company with on-site project management. He does lay-out and oversees all masons, laborers, and Sub-Contractors to ensure that each project is completed correctly and within the schedule set by the Owners and General Contractors. Rudy says, "Working for Concept is a good fit for me. I especially appreciate the autonomy we are given in the field: it shows trust and confidence in us, which enables us to continue to deliver quality installed jobs to our customers."
Chris Whitby
Chris is a North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association Certified Masonry Professional. He has worked with Concept Masonry for more than 11 years.
Brian Murray
Brian has worked with Concept Masonry for almost 3 years with 2 years previous commercial masonry supervision. With 16 years under his belt in the construction industry, Brian also has a working knowledge of residential masonry, commercial masonry, HVAC, and sheet metal working. Brian earned a degree from PCDI in Heating and Air Conditioning and is a North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association Certified Masonry Professional. Brian once studied to be a Spanish Teacher, and thus, Concept Masonry has found him to be invaluable as he is fluent in Spanish. He has spent the last 5 years working as a commercial masonry Superintendent in the Raleigh area.
Jeff Bowen
Jeff is one of our newest Superintendents. After 3 years of studying and practicing masonry in High
School, Jeff took Blueprint Reading and Principles of Supervision at ACC. In June of 2000, Jeff
began working for a commercial masonry contractor laying brick and block, but later found himself
with Concept Masonry in a Supervisory position. He is currently enrolled in the North Carolina
Masonry Contractors Association Certified Masonry Professional Program expecting to receive his
certification within a year. Jeff has been and invaluable asset to Concept Masonry for more than 5
years.
